About Me:
I have always had a love affair with photos. There is something about capturing the moment that has always appealed to me. I am not a professional and have no formal training, but hope to get some when I retire in 2008.
Gear
Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200mm VR lens, Nikon 55mm, and a Sigma macro lens (need to check the specs). I also have the SB 800 flash unit.

Yes, definitely please with the Live View feature... Also found a nice trick... There is a setting in the shooting menu that will delay the shutter for 1sec after taking the shot so that mirror slap will disappear. Also, if you activate the Mirror Up setting the camera will make an exposure automatically if you haven't done so yourself. This would be like shooting with the self-timer. I have added a few chapel images tonite that were done with this technique. Should work great with your flowers.

I have been doing some shooting with a tripod with the D300 just to be sure I am getting all I can. When will you post some of your new pix? Would like to see what you like to photograph..

We had 4 inches here in Maryland last nite... very unusual. The D300 is the most interesting camera I've ever owned. I have always been plagued by camera shake and have found the VR18-200 and incredible help for handheld shots down to around 1/15s which have never been usable for me before. I photograph lots of people but haven't used the D300 yet for this which is why I haven't posted any yet.

Thank you! I used a Sigma 30mm for the kitty and carwash photos, and a Nikkor 20mm for the temple shot.

Hi Bill G

No snow yet here in CT. But this being New England that can change in the blink of an eye. Do you currently have snow where you are?

It seems you have also worked your way through a series of Nikons. I started with one of their very early digitals and owned 6 Coolpix models and the D200 and now the D300.

What do you think of the D300? How do you like the 18 - 200 mm VR lens?

Good luck with your photo shoot.

My photography leans towards nature photography and especially Botanical photography. I feel that is where I do my best work. However, I enjoy all kinds of photography and how it tells a story.
