The D300 has arrived, How are you enjoying yours?

A quick start to a long thread I am sure of. I have been having a blast with mine. It is a big step up from the D100. I guess I need to take more pictures and have more fun! I will be posting pictures soon. (small problem on my end won't let me upload pictures yet) Also looking forward to upgrading my D300 with the MB-D10.

Long and short of it- I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you Nikon.

While the road to mastery is long I'm pretty darn happy with where the road is starting.

I have a strange problem. I just tried to load some images into Photoshop from a memory card. The files are getting into Photoshop but they are arriving as .NEF's not the usual .dng's. As NEF's, Photoshop refuses to open the files. What is going on here.

I've shot my D100 for four years and never had this happen - the files were converted from NEF to dng every time. I'd love some ideas about this.

Thanks

You may need a patch or upgrade. Your photoshop may be like mine, it won't handle D300 pictures till I do an update for the new file types.

Hi Mark & Ksaw,

I tried to follow the direction on the Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 4.3 Read Me page. I stepped through to the end of step #4 (got to File Formats and saw the plug-in, but it was shadowed and therefore not accessible). I don't know how to get rid of it if I can't get any closed than seeing a shaded file symbol for it. Any suggestions?

You may need to be signed on as administrator or have admin rights. I assume Photoshop wasn't running at the time - that would explain it being greyed out. Did you try to past the new file into the folder?

Photoshop was not running so you are right about that. I'll try to get in as an administrator. I have the downloaded new version of RAW sitting on the desktop, but just can't access the old version. I'll keep working on it. Thanks.

Well believe it or not I finally got it to work - how or why I'm not sure, but I'm happy none the less. Thank you for your help.
