We just returned this afternoon from our extended trip (surprise surprise) out on the boat. Originally we were only going out for a week of excitement in the Canadian Gulf Islands but the weather here turned to HOT. 108 degrees here in Seattle, Victoria and Nanaimo in BC were over 100 when we were moored (did a lot of swimming to cool off) and the last thing we wanted was to sit here at home and try to beat the heat, the seas were calm and Lea’s Gall Bladder pain level was kept minimal so off we went further up north again to make up for last year’s difficult travels in British Columbia/Georgia Straits/San Juan De Fuka/San Juan and Gulf Islands. This time had a marvelous trip. Actually got to relax and recharge. I ended up taking almost 3500 photos during the boat trip. Wow such gorgeous scenery, new lenses, and the weather wonderful.
Met up with two other boater friends for a few days and then decided to take off on our own for a longer period of time. We ended up gunk holing in some gorgeous spots and ending up as far north as Princess Louisa Inlet Chatterbox Falls in BC and back hitting many more spots we love along the way, and also spending some time on a friend’s private island (Caldwell Island) again for a few days. About 650+ sea miles at least under our belts and mostly good water and smooth water, only reason we kept on going solo (of course the Georgia Straits and The Straits of San Juan De Fuka (The Strait of Juan de Fuca (also called Juan de Fuca Strait) is a large body of water about 95 miles (153 km) long[1] forming the principal outlet for the Georgia Strait and Puget Sound, connecting both to the Pacific Ocean. It provides part of the international boundary between the United States and Canada.) threw out some nasty passages as usual but not as bad as last year going very early in the AM).
Decided to postpone the surgery till “summer” was over. LOL Have had a few gall bladder tweaks (depending on what I decided to eat.. crab, oysters and clams were the norm and seemed to agree better with the system than the meat end) during the past few weeks but managed pain wise. Now have to get serious about having this thing yanked out, (after postponing this three times). We’re exhausted and somewhat topsy turvy with no land legs yet but all is ok. (Cooper our Dal was a gem once again aboard the boat)
Now if I can get my dear husband to sit still for more than 5 minutes I can at least get some laundry and house cleaning done.. Plus some regional photo shoots completed.
This trip along with our recent trip to New York has kept us busy and away for a long period of time.
Hopefully will be home for the time being. With Doug having summers off I don’t blame him for wanting to do it all in the time given him.
