Profile Information

Hometown:
Olalla, WA (Hawaii at Heart)
About Me:
I have been shooting a Nikon D70 for several years, upgraded recently to the D300. I enjoy shooting live concerts, scenic Pacific Northwest and Hawaiian regions, florals/nature, nautical subjects, and classic cars. I live vicariously through the cars I restore and drive, and am always looking for the perfect chrome and paint. Returning to the 50's and farther back is near and dear to my heart. I do this by getting greasy myself and doing restoration of our own classic Tbird's. I also crank up the "oldies" and capture images of moments from the past in automotive history. Those that drive along side us on today's highways, or restored to perfection and used as a mobile museum, and memory jogger. Always looking for that smile and Thumbs Up!

I also do graphic work in which a lot of my photography is used. I support regional and national car and boating clubs, The United States Naval Academy and the United States Navy League keep me busy by doing magazine photography, slide shows and custom publications. Some of my work is featured on regular monthly publications as well as special features.

I run/host several websites for Hawaiian Music Artist friends and yacht clubs, of which I'm very proud. This enables me the possibility of visiting Hawaii several times a year and shoot some very talented people. It allows me the opportunity of attending some very special events and rub elbows with some of the finest music artists in the world, both here on the mainland and in the islands. To those friends I thank you for the exposure and continued support.
My latest project was helping to promote a National Lone Sailor Memorial Project constructed and completed successfully after three years of work, near where I live. My photography and special projects were included in regional and national recognition by The Navy Memorial Foundation in Washington DC. My graphics and slide shows have been used to help promote this monumental and permanent tribute to our men of the Armed Forces.
Another project is currently in the making and will curtail a joint endeavor helping to perpetuate Hawaiian Artwork. This will enable me to do an in-depth photo shoot in Hawaii in the near future. I'm totally stoked about these projects and more to come on that later on. ~Mahalo

Gear
Photos Displays capture some of my project work. There is also one of a few of the camera's I've had the opportunity of growing up with and shooting. Now considered "antiques" these are still fully functional.

Although a a true "film freak" I've been shooting digital for many years, beginning with Sony and moving to Sony Mavica 400's (convenient for what I was doing with it at the time) My first true digital SLR was the Nikon D70 which I still have and use religiously. I have upgraded to the magnificent Nikon D300 and I am totally impressed with the results! My favorite lens is my 70-200mm 2.8 VR since I shoot primarily without flash at concerts ect! (altho I have several)
I hope to continue to take photographs and capture special "Nostalgic Memories by Lea" for a long time. I hope you will continue to enjoy viewing them as well.
~ I cherish your feedback and comments.

We just returned this afternoon from our extended trip (surprise surprise) out on the boat. Originally we were only going out for a week of excitement in the Canadian Gulf Islands but the weather here turned to HOT. 108 degrees here in Seattle, Victoria and Nanaimo in BC were over 100 when we were moored (did a lot of swimming to cool off) and the last thing we wanted was to sit here at home and try to beat the heat, the seas were calm and Lea’s Gall Bladder pain level was kept minimal so off we… Continue

Classic and Custom Cars

Restoring and showing Classic and Vintage '55 to '66 Ford Tbirds is another passion I have. Capturing images of Classic Cars via private photo commissions, for fellow motorheads, helps me to appreciate the caliber of the work car efficiantoes have for their rides. My clients wish to have their works of art featured to properiety. Photos are taken at places of their choosing, public displays, car shows and on the road… Continue

HAWAIIAN PHOTOGRAPHY

Hawaii is my passion, both in it's music and in the natural scenic beauty of the islands. If I have my wish I would love to be able to live in Hawaii and capture the beauty in front of my lens, but I'll have to be happy with visiting a few times a year. Continue

Lea,

Lea,
Sound like you work for the Hawaiian Tourism Board! (Like they really need one?):)
We're fortunate to live near the NC coast (Sunset Beach). I guess that gives me two connections to the beauty and culture of Hawaii - beautiful sunsets and the ukulele I enjoy playing for fun and relaxation. Keep posting those wonderful pics.

Lea,
Unique Thank You card! Has to be a 'Hawaiian star fish,' yes? Haven't seen anything like that on the NC coast.

Lea,
Your pictures are supurb - subjects, composition, detail, you got it all! So, Hawaii is your dream location? No wonder. I've not been there but I have yet to hear a negative word from those who have been. Again, super shots. Great work!
