Thanks again, Bill, as I said, I will give it a try. I have to look, if 24 mm at wide end will be sufficient, as I quite often shoot landscape and architecture (uploads will follow). Thats why I am looking towards 17mm Sigma. There is no hurry have to save some money first:-)

Thanks for your advice about the lenses. I will definitely give it a try. BTW, I consider the Sigma 17-70mm 2,8-4,5 MACRO DC HSM, it is relatively cheap to buy at Amazon (270 EUR?) What do you think? Will it go well with D300? And it hasn't the stabilization, has it?
